The role of the Product Data Custodian is to maintain internal product database (also called item master or material master). As such, he/she will receive requests for creating new products (also called item codes) from the various procurement units

The task of the Product Data Custodian is to verify whether new item codes are required or advise the requestor about existing item codes that can be used for a given purchase. When creating new item codes, the Product Data Custodian should verify that all item attributes have been correctly captured, and that the item description has been standardized to the extent possible. Some of the attributes that need to be captured for an item include: spend category, lot or serial control, expiry control, storage temperature.

The partner purchases a wide range of products, including but not limited to:
• Medicines and vaccines
• Medical equipment and consumables
• Laboratory equipment, consumables and reagents
• Vehicles, generators, laptops, radio equipment (and other products to operate their offices)

The Product Data Custodian should be willing to dig into and understand the specificities of these different products in order to give them meaningful and standardized descriptions. Previous experience with products in the medical or laboratory industry is an asset, but a willingness to learn autonomously is equally important. The Product Data Manager will provide advice and encourage knowledge-sharing whenever possible, but the expectation is that the Product Data Custodian should be independent.
The Product Data Custodian will be working in a team of three, comprising another Product Data Custodian and the Product Data Manager (to which they both report).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience: 2 or more years within the supply chain field. (Any of the following areas may qualify: procurement, warehousing, shipping, quality management, master data management.)
• Education: First level university degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field.
• Proficient and resourceful in using search engines.
• Meticulous, independent, and proactive.
• Previous experience with products in the medical or laboratory industry is an asset.
