We are looking for a Manual Tester to work with our engineering teams, responsible for the software quality in order to achieve the best customer experience. We are looking for someone who is a real doer with continuous learning commitments. In this role, you will report to our Quality Assurance Engineer and work closely with our technical operations team.

About the Team
This role is in our Product & Technology department. Our team is split between San Francisco and Hungary. Our engineers have diverse backgrounds in hospitality, consulting, real estate, and technology. Everyone joined the company because they are passionate about building a platform that delivers value to landlords and serves guests seeking trustworthy, well-priced accommodations in great locations. We run an agile development process and consider a strong culture-add (not just fit) a requirement.

Day in the life of a Manual Tester
Like any Tester, there is no ‘typical day’. We like to sync every day with our San Francisco coworkers in the form of stand-ups or other agile ceremonies like grooming and planning. The rest of the day tends to be spent on active tests and regression test plans in advance of upcoming product features and rollouts. You’ll have your individual tasks as well as collaboration over Slack and Zoom with a team of designers, PMs, and engineers to check quality for complex business problems as we release features and functions.
Overall, you are expected to uphold and improve on our high testing standards. You will not only hone your QA skills, but also collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand business problems, gather requirements, and design tests too. Requirements

• 4+ years of software testing experience
• Desire to improve quality and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
• Ability to operate without extensive guidance. It is required to take on full ownership of the testing activities you are working on and it is also required to be able to work individually
• Experience driving end-to-end software quality by understanding STLC (software testing life cycle)
• Understanding technical briefs (user stories) and designs
• Technical knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Decent knowledge of the HTTP protocol and API mechanisms
• REST API testing and debugging experience using tools such as Postman
• Experience with test management and bug reporting tools (preferably cloud based Jira addons)
• Experience with agile methodologies
• You have a strong EQ, and are able to generate deep empathy with guests and operating team members which enables you to truly listen and implement product feedback
• Ability to collaborate between local and remote teams of engineers

Plus if…
• You have willingness to learn test automation (Javascript based test frameworks and / or API testing solutions)
• Experience testing cloud-based web applications (AWS preferred)
• Experience with Contentful CMS
• Familiarity with IOT devices
• ISTQB certificate
• Experience in a dynamic early-stage startup environment
• You have a passion for hospitality, travel, and/or adventure

In one year, you will succeed at the company by having:
• Improved our software quality by writing sufficient, maintainable and valuable tests
• Understanding the whole architecture and knowing the edge-cases of the system
• Created and maintained reasonable amount of testcases
• Improved Story quality by asking the ‘what if’ questions in feature development phase
• Improved the guest experience by highlighting the possible issues before go-live
